Privacy Policy
Canopy CMD is a Mac window switcher made by KindridStudio ("we," "us"). We built Canopy to be private by default, and this policy explains, plainly, the small amount of data we handle and why. If anything here is unclear, email hello@canopycmd.app.
The short version
Canopy does not track you. It has no analytics, no advertising, no telemetry, and it never reads, stores, or transmits your browsing, your window contents, your documents, or your files. The only personal data we handle is what we need to sell you a license and keep that license honest.
What the app does on your Mac
To show you window previews, Canopy uses macOS Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. Everything it sees stays on your Mac: previews are generated and cached locally and never leave your device. Canopy contacts the internet for two things on its own: license checks and a daily update check (both below). If it ever crashes, it asks you before sending a crash report. It does not phone home for anything else.

What we do not collect
- No browsing history, URLs, page contents, or window contents
- No documents, files, or screenshots
- No analytics, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or behavioral profiles
- No location data
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data, ever. We rely on a few trusted providers to run the service, and share only what each needs:
- Stripe: payment processing (privacy policy)
- Resend: sending your license key and replies by email (privacy policy)
- Vercel: hosting our website and license server (privacy policy)
We may disclose information if required by law.
Cookies and tracking
The app has no analytics, no telemetry, and sets no cookies. Nothing about how you use Canopy CMD is collected.
The website (canopycmd.app) uses Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages people find useful. Google Analytics sets cookies for that purpose and processes the data in the United States under Google's terms. We use it with IP anonymisation and without advertising features, and we do not use it to identify you. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics stays off until you choose Okay in the cookie bar, and your choice is remembered on your device. You can also block it with your browser's tracking protection or an extension, and the site works exactly the same. We set no advertising cookies and do not track you across other sites.
How long we keep it
We keep your email and license record for as long as your license exists, so we can support you and let you recover your key. If you ask us to delete your data, we will, except where we must keep a record for legal or accounting reasons (for example, proof of a transaction).
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to stop using it. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have additional rights. To exercise any of them, just email hello@canopycmd.app and we will respond promptly.
International users
Canopy is sold worldwide. Your data may be processed on servers operated by the providers above, which may be located outside your country. We only work with providers that offer appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
Children
Canopy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and post the new version here. Material changes will be noted clearly.
